Ultimately the concept I'm going with is embroidery now. I initially looked at French knots and did a small sample which is a little further on in my sketchbook so will be featured in a later post. It took me F O R E V E R to do such a tiny sample I decided that even though it's a beautiful technique and can be so visually stimulating, especially when paired with some negative space, I just cannot afford the time to do it. However I did do some designs for what I would do if there were no time constraints .
So this brought me onto the idea of cross stitch. I used to cross stitch when I was young, being so proud of each piece I made! Though I think the idea of cross stitch can seem a little old fashioned to some, I am not doing it as you would traditionally. I really like the idea of having the stitches scattered over various components of the jackets, trousers and skirts so I did a few initial designs for this idea. I really like the design where the embroidery comes up the sleeves...something to keep in mind for future designs.
